PEACE PROJECT

The Rotary Club Neuchâtel Lac (Switzerland) and the Rotary Club Kabul (Afghanistan) in collaboration with FSD (Swiss Foundation for Mine Actions) are preparing a project providing assistance to victims of mines and other explosives remnants of war in the province of Badakhshan (northern Afghanistan). Due to the remoteness of the area many survivors of mine accidents don’t receive support. As FSD has been clearing landmines in Badakhshan since 2010, operating across the Tajik border, the two Rotary Clubs take advantage of their presence in the region to assist the victims of mine accidents. This includes socio-economic measures, such as helping them start a new activity compatible with their disability. Rehabilitating victims helps repair the scars of conflicts which is fundamental to promote peace in Afghanistan.
